The Electromagnetic Environment: A Crucial Blindspot for Cognitive Resilience & Security
A written companion to my Utah State University talk — arguing that cognitive security and resilience rest on a biological substrate the modern electromagnetic environment is quietly degrading, and what institutions can do about it.
The Circadian Optimization Guide
A research-based guide to circadian biology and the full-spectrum light environment — translating the science into practical strategies for sleep, energy, metabolism, hormones, and cognitive performance. My flagship publication, available at regenerint.com.
Reconceptualising Sustainable Responses to the Refugee Crisis
A sole-authored policy brief for the Euro-Mediterranean's principal security-research network, identifying three impediments to the EU's refugee response — political disunity, the asylum-transit policy gap, and outdated 1951/1967 legal definitions — and recommending a reconceptualisation of how states classify and protect the displaced.
The Mediterranean Migration Crisis
An analysis of the scale and complexity of irregular maritime migration in the Mediterranean, the role of Libya as a transit hub, and Europe's evolving maritime responses.
Resolving Hybrid Conflicts: The Bougainville Story
How a resource-and-identity-driven hybrid conflict in Papua New Guinea illuminates the interconnectedness of environmental, human, and state security. An expanded version of the essay — which originally appeared in Foreign Policy Journal (2012) — was published by the German educational publisher Ernst Klett Sprachen as the analytical supplement to its study edition of Lloyd Jones's novel Mister Pip (Klett English Editions, pp. 219–234).
Global Security Shifts: The Agendas Made and the Threats Unaddressed
A framework for addressing security across three balanced pillars — human, state, and environment.
Electromagnetic Environmental Variables for Cognitive Resilience
Invited to present to university department heads on how the electromagnetic operating environment affects the biological systems that underlie cognition — and why cognitive resilience and security depend on them. The audience included a former CIA Assistant Director.
Panelist — "Big Tech, Social Media, and Public Health"
Brought in to educate strategic leaders in JPME-II on the societal and public-health stakes of big tech and social media — how platforms engineered to capture our attention, and the personal data they harvest, are used to profile and move populations, from selling products to influencing elections.
SUD.SEC.MED International Symposium on Migration — Invited Speaker
The first American invited to the symposium. Presented to an international audience of irregular-migration experts — using an inverted map of the Mediterranean to show how geography, and our perception of it, shapes migration policy.
